the winner of our Golden Ticket from the second of our Tenth Anniversary Raffles. He might be new to the world of escape rooms with just two games under his belt, but he will soon become a clueQuest expert with a £1,000 Golden Ticket in his pocket!
a clueQuest superspy to find out how he felt winning the first ever Golden Ticket.
"I visited clueQuest for the first time in February 2018 and fell in love with escape rooms straight away. When Glitch Hunters (clueQuest's new outdoor escape game - Editor) was announced I had to get my usual crew, the Crimson Otters out of retirement to defeat Professor Blacksheep once more. I almost closed the raffle announcement video before I saw from the corner of my eye that I was the one who won the first Golden Ticket. I was amazed to have won!"
Throwback Stories!
When we started out clueQuest in 2013 we built all our rooms with DIY solutions and we sourced almost all our furniture from second hand shops. 2015 was a big turning point when we decided to replace all our furniture with custom made ones to improve the immersion of the escape room experience.
By the end of 2014 our team has grown to over 20 people. Many friendships were and are made at clueQuest - even a couple marriages -among staff and some of the people from 9 years ago are still with us and hosting excellent escape room experiences for our lovely agents with the same enthusiasm.
We refer to our hosts in-house as Gamesmakers. This is a tribute to the volunteers during the 2012 London Olympics, that the founders and their family attended as visitors. In 2014 we introduced the very first copy of the Gamesmakers' Guide to clueQuest which still to this date gives the basis of how all our escape games are hosted.
This was the first time when we fully went out of our way to dress up our location with Halloween decorations. And it wouldn't have been us if we didn't put a little clueQuest spin on things, so many of the characters made it into pumpkin carvings and the team had a blast making them.
Because we work long hours on the weekend and Professor Blacksheep and his evil minions never sleep, our team needed to replenish their energy quite often. We started treating our amazing hosts to snacks and food and a tradition was born still live and well known as the Coffee Fairy.
Early 2014 we received a request like never before, someone wanted to propose in one of our rooms. We swung into action and created a brand new puzzle for Operation Blacksheep to create a new ending to the game… Or was that just the beginning?! The proposal was a success and we've overseen dozens of proposals since then.
We started off with just one escape room in 2013 but by early 2014 we had three operational escape room games. This required Mr Q to hire extra agent handlers. So we grew our spy organisation with recruits from countries like Australia, Romania, Switzerland. To this date we have a diverse workforce that we are super proud of!
After the success of 2013 we've started designing a new escape game, Operation Blacksheep. The first ever ticket to this escape room was auctioned off on eBay to help support a charity called Over the Wall. They are an amazing charity providing camps and experiences for children with health challenges and disabilities and their families.
During the process of building Operation BlackSheep we decided that we should invite our very first team to give the new mission a go. Free of charge of course, after all they voted us confidence when they had no idea what an escape room exactly is. They loved it and we invited them back several times like some other special teams.
Many of you know us from our second location - near Liverpool St. Station - where our HQ was located for about a year. We quickly outgrew our first venue in Tottenham Hale so we began our hunt for a new place to house our escape games. This is the place where Operation Blacksheep - a fan favourite to this date - was born.
After building our first escape room game PLAN52 we couldn't be more excited to welcome our very first team to try on the challenge. James and their team made their booking a few weeks after we released the booking system and successfully escaped on 9th of June 2013. Since then over 90,000 teams took on our escape room adventures.
clueQuest was established by and still owned by four brothers. Gabor, Peter, Gigi and Zoli. All four of the founders of our escape rooms are still very much involved with day to day operations of our escape games and to make sure we bring you top notch team experiences.
The main mascot of Mr Q the cheese loving super spy was Gigi's university project that he worked on while attending the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Mr Q was adopted by clueQuest and Gigi created with Professor Blacksheep as the opposing villain. Now we have over a dozen characters populating the spy story each of them with an intriguing backstory told through our escape games.
Not many know but clueQuest escape rooms started off from a sketchy little office space near Tottenham Hale. We are super grateful to have a humble beginning and to our customers who ventured all the way to Tottenham to play in our escape room.

You absolutely can but you have to confirm this in writing with us.
If you win you can use your golden ticket all at once or in small chuncks until the ticket is valid, whichever way you see fit. Essentially the Golden Ticket works as a gift card with an expiry date.
