Available roles

Job Title: Games Maker (Games Host)

Reports to: Assistant Manager & Operations Manager

Location: London Office

Status: 21/0h per week

Pay: £12.21/hr - starting pay with a 3 month probation

Main Duties

  • Demonstrate clueQuest values at all times
  • Host and run 1-2 escape games individually, and/or 1-4 games, as part of a team
  • Facilitate client welcome, briefings, and debriefings
  • Ensure that facilitation of the games meet the quality standards of clueQuest
  • Ensure escape units are correctly re-set and fully functioning
  • Report any issues with escape units and props to Assistant Managers
  • Upsell and coordinate any customer service merchandise purchases
  • Safely and responsibly handle alcohol, including sales to customers in accordance with company policy - training will be provided
  • Assist in facilitating company-run on-site events, as directed by leadership

Facilities Duties

  • Ensure Mission control is presentable and fully functioning prior to games and large booking events
  • Keeping the building looking clean and presentable, hoovering and wiping down surfaces
  • Setting up our party room and conference room spaces for one-off events
  • Making tea and coffee and arranging snack offerings for team bookings with the conference room or party room added onto the reservation
  • Opening and closing responsibilities occasionally - training will be provided

Team Support

  • Act as clueQuest buddy to help new starters settle into their role, navigate around the escape units and sharing knowledge and experience
  • Represent the clueQuest brand at external events and exhibitions
  • Ownership of any clueQuest projects as appropriate
  • Office tasks (eg. restocking beverage, merchandise, organising office supplies, assembling Spy Paper products for onsite sale and postage)
  • Other reasonable support and on-site customer service tasks related to the daily operations of clueQuest

Contract - Hours - Availability

We require Zero or Fixed Hours contracts with mainly weekend availability, alongside high seasonal availability and consistent coverage on both weekdays and weekends.

Fixed (21 hours/week):
  • Two shifts of ~5 hours (Mon-Fri, flexible)
  • One shift of ~11 hours (weekend)
Zero hours (on-call style):
  • Submit availability 1-2 weeks in advance
  • Shifts are confirmed (locked in) the day before
  • Expected to work a 7.5-hour shift on both Saturday and Sunday each week.

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Direct Reports: Gamesmakers

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: cQ London HQ

Job Summary

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the senior management team to ensure operational activities run smoothly and efficiently. They will be confident and proactive in providing leadership, recruitment, training and supervision of staff within the company and have an in-depth knowledge of employee relations, quality control and team performance.

They will form an integral part of the team ensuring good customer relations are maintained, supporting management with periodic performance reviews, whilst providing advice and guidance to staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and deal with ongoing daily issues
  • Act as first port of call for all escalated customer relations and issues as they arrive; providing support and making final decisions for Gamesmakers as required.
  • Deal with office enquiries as and when required
  • Act as ambassador to lead team towards the attainment of shared company goals
  • Assist with H&S issues for employees and customers
  • Take on Gamesmaker responsibilities as required as part of the role to provide cover and support busy periods
  • Lead the training and induction of new starters
  • Train staff on, and implement our alcohol handling policy in accordance with the premises license
  • Monitor and manage performance of staff and assist with Quality Control
  • Manage employee relations and integrate new team members into the company

People Management

  • Support with line management responsibility for gamesmakers
  • Acting in a supervisory role to all junior members of staff while on duty
  • Ensure that gamesmakers are working and operating in line with policies and procedures; taking action where this is not occurring
  • Hold check-ins with the team and report back issues to senior management team
  • Take responsibility for the opening and closing duties
  • Ensure that company information is communicated to team members including slack messages, emails, policy updates etc
  • Manage all employee relations matters including probation, sickness, performance management

Maintenance and Inventory

  • Ensure padlocks, keys, props, drinks and snacks are stocked and organised
  • Stock and inventory management - maintain inventory on Google Sheets and Storekit to ensure stock is reordered when required
  • Deal with minor maintenance issues and refer more major issues to relevant team

Quality Management

  • Take responsibility along with the Operations Manager for the quality management process within the company
  • Complete quality checks for Gamesmakers using agreed quality control documentation, reporting back to management if score is below average

Person Specification

Essential

  • Supervisory experience and undertaking people management duties
  • Customer service experience
  • Good time keeping and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify problems and use initiative to come up with solutions
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Flexible with the ability to respond to a diverse range of work-based scenarios
  • Enthusiastic and proactive personality with a ‘can do’ approach
  • A proven ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships
  • Initiative and ability to develop projects for oneself and the team being managed even during quiet operational periods

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an events/escape game environment
  • Strong understanding of people motivation
  • Experience of shift work
  • Previous quality management experience
  • Familiarity and experience with using Google Drive

Salary

£13.84 per hour (3 month probation) rising to £14.34 per hour upon passing probation.

Hours

21h (3 days per week) or 30h (4 days per week) options. Two shifts per week Friday-Sunday based on a rolling pattern, with the remainder mid-week. Occasional early starts, to accommodate greeting corporate teams before general opening.
