Most escape rooms operate within the same formula: enter a room, get locked in, solve some puzzles, and get out! But, when it comes to puzzle making, there is an ongoing conversation on how teams can be further challenged without increasing the volume of puzzles. Introducing non-linear puzzle escape rooms!
A non-linear escape room means that at certain points in your game, there will be times when you can start multiple pathways at the same time. So that random hollowed out book and bedazzled shoe you found? Definitely clues, but not necessarily clues together.
Here at clueQuest, all of our missions have adopted a non-linear escape room formula, meaning there’s lots to look at and lots to find, all of which might not go together. In comparison, linear escape rooms follow one path, each puzzle leading into the next, creating a slightly more streamlined path of thinking.
Now just to clarify, one is not harder than the other, linear escape rooms usually have more puzzles to complete within the hour and non-linear escape rooms means finding quite a few clues with no clear path forward. Now, that begs the question, what is the best way to approach either of these escape rooms?

Well, if we told you that, we’d be out of a job, wouldn’t we!
No matter what, you’re sure to have an hour of head-scratching fun!
